ESF Exploratory Workshop on Science and Technology of Agreement
The ESF Exploratory Workshop on Science and Technology of Agreement will be held on June 18-21 in Barcelona, Spain. The European Science Foundation (ESF) is devoted to provide its 77 Member Organizations with a common platform in order to advance European research and explore new directions for research, by promoting Science Strategy and Science Synergy and paving the way for initiatives across disciplinary and geographic boundaries in the European Research Area (ERA).
The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers from different disciplines (such as social psychology, biological anthropology, social neuroscience, artificial intelligence) who can contribute to a better understanding of agreement in social contexts among multi-agent artificial systems. Presently, there is not a shared and dominant model of agreement as mental attitude, as decision and action, and as a social relationship. A fruitful dialogue and transfer of knowledge among these disciplines is needed for the construction of multi-agent-systems and to use multi-agent-systems to simulate social systems.
Among the personalities that will attend to the workshop we should mention to, on the one hand, Oscar Vilarroya (Convenor and responsible for the Càtedra ‘el cervell social’ at Hospital del Mar IAPS, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona) and, on the other hand, Ramón López de Mántaras and Carles Sierra (Co-convenors and both from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute - CSIC).
