v-mWater

Virtual worlds are 3D environments that allow for an anthropomorphic representation of users (via avatars) and, hence, a greater usability in their interaction with a software application. "Electronic Institutions" (EI) are a tool for representing and managing complex business processes, such as market places. EIs also allow the interaction between users and autonomous software components (agents). The v-mWater application shows how virtual worlds improve the user experience in business process management (BPM) applications where users and agents interact via avatars.

mWater

mWater is a tool designed to study the influence of regulations on complex markets like water rights. The intended uses are: modelling of users and owners, and of exchange and conflict resolution mechanisms; prototype of an actual electronic market of water rights, and perform "what if" analysis of how different policies impact water market performance. Indicators (KPIs) such as number of agreements reached, number of sale contracts, volume of water distributed or benefit can be easily defined and modified.

mHealth

The quality of the medical emergency services depends on the efficient co-ordination among the parties involved: ptient, emergency centre, ambulances and hospitals. mHealth is an application running on mobile devices for real-time on-line access to health information and services. This application uses health data to improve the co-ordination and communication among the parties involved in the emergency. Historical data feed a simulator to evaluate co-ordination protocols and calibrate resource allocation.

eProcurement

eProcurement has evolved from the mere purchase optimization to find the best strategy for collaboration and cooperation with suppliers. The eProcurement application makes use of combinatorial optimization algorithms and probabilistic measures of trust and reputation to help creating and managing strategic alliances with suppliers. The application allows analyzing business collaborations, to find potencial collaborators and to monitor and evaluate alliances.
